Ayuda Announces Revenue Intelligence for OOH

Company introduces new platform to optimize how DOOH suppliers manage revenue, beginning with waterfalled playback of content from direct and programmatic sales

By Daniel Fleischer, Las Vegas, Nevada

Apr 30, 2018

Ayuda Media Systems (“Ayuda”), an out-of-home ad tech company announced today at the 2018 Digital Signage Expo that it will be demonstrating the first of many revenue-optimization- centric features that constitute the next evolution of Ayuda’s complete business operations platform for D/OOH media owners.

Leveraging Ayuda’s advanced optimization algorithms, the Revenue Intelligence (Ri) platform will analyze the day-to-day operational, sales, and finance data that is already managed in the Ayuda Platform to increase overall yield to the media owner. The first Ayuda Ri offering is available immediately to digital (DOOH) media networks as a fully programmatic-ready CMS and player that can play content from multiple sources, with intelligence about the order interplay between both direct sales and programmatic sales efforts. Ri prioritizes programmatically delivered content without the need to reserve a spot in the loop. The DOOH network’s existing direct sales effort has full unrestricted access to the entire loop capacity, as Ayuda Ri waterfalls between content from direct sales and content from programmatic sales when available.

Daniel Fleischer, Ayuda’s Vice President of Business Development and Marketing explains: Ayuda’s platform provides a state-of-the-art, open ecosystem programmatic-ready player that intelligently optimizes yield by ensuring that content from any number of programmatic sources can be played without having to dedicate a reserved spot in the loop. Ayuda Ri employs a waterfall mechanism that plays content from direct sales, followed by content from external programmatic sources such as Hivestack or any commercially available VAST or HTML source. The DOOH network’s business rules are defined in the Ayuda Platform, which then govern how best to inject the programmatically sourced content.”

The waterfall content playback is only the first step in the overarching Yield Optimization challenge that Ayuda Ri addresses. The Ayuda Platform, used by many of the world’s largest OOH media owners already to manage all aspects of their ad operations, already holds much of the sales, occupancy and general business data against which optimization calculations can be performed. Ri unlocks the power of the day-to-day operational data and transforms it into valuable insights which hold the potential to increase occupancy and rates, thus increasing yield.

Fleischer concludes: “We now turn attention to unlocking the power of the business data that is already managed by the Ayuda Platform. Expect to see Ayuda begin tackling elements that only a complete solution such as Ayuda’s can attempt, under the Ri banner. These include, for example, dynamic rate cards, campaign planning optimization, occupancy and rate optimization, and lessor prioritization. Optimizing against all the elements simultaneously is of course the holy grail of an ultimate yield management platform for OOH. That’s Revenue Intelligence.

Ayuda Implements Deep Integration with Hivestack

Leading out-of-home advertising ERP company completes integration with programmatic partner enabling new revenue streams for its clients

By Kat Silberstein, Cologne, Germany

Sep 17, 2017

Ayuda Media Systems Inc. (Ayuda), a leading ERP company whose technology is used globally to run out-of-home (OOH) media companies announced today at DMEXCO 2017 that it has integrated with Hivestack Inc., a location-based martech company specializing in garnering new programmatic revenue streams for the digital OOH (DOOH) industry.

Luc Filiatreault, President of Ayuda commented “We are thrilled to have completed a deep integration with our programmatic partner, Hivestack. Our clients will benefit greatly from this work as our Splash CMS and Player now have first-class support for programmatic campaigns.”

As part of the integration, Splash uses the Hivestack Exchange APIs to make ad requests from all unsold spots in a loop of a digital unit. If Hivestack has demand for the unit, it responds in realtime with a VAST file that envelopes the creative. In addition, Splash uses the Hivestack Exchange API to retrieve 24 hours of creative for every unit bought through Hivestack, and then the Splash Player pre-caches the creative locally.

Finally, the Splash Player reports back POP by calling a VAST impression URL after creative is played so that Hivestack can keep track of plays. A synchronization process keeps inventory, campaign and audience impression data synchronized between Splash and Hivestack. Andreas Soupliotis, CEO of Hivestack commented: “Ayuda’s integration with Hivestack enables media owners who use Splash as a CMS / Player to monetize their unsold inventory. In addition, thanks to a realtime avails integration with Splash, Hivestack SSP can verify impression availability of packaged deals prior to publishing to DSPs. This deep integration between CMS/Player/SSP functionality truly readies digital OOH media owners for new revenue streams from programmatic demand.”

Ayuda launches new company: AYUDA[x]

Global OOH software leader spins off a new company focused on helping marketers target consumers on mobile and DOOH screens based on where they are and places they have visited

By Andreas Soupliotis, Cologne, Germany

Sep 14, 2016

Ayuda Systems (“Ayuda”), a global software leader for out-of-home advertising announced today at DMEXCO 2016 that it has introduced a new company called AYUDA[x] (www.ayudax.com). AYUDA[x] is location martech company that helps marketers target consumers by delivering ads to mobile devices and DOOH screens by analyzing massive geospatial datasets to understand where consumers are, where they have been, and where they are going.

Andreas Soupliotis, CEO of both Ayuda and AYUDA[x] commented “Digital marketers are increasingly buying location-based mobile media, and we are intentionally melding DOOH and mobile into one bucket which we refer to as Location”. To accelerate this effort, AYUDA[x] has embraced a go-to-mobile-market strategy that evangelizes the value proposition of cross-screen campaigns to mobile buyers.

“This is a pivot for us” shared Soupliotis. “We’ve spent the past 13 years building a wildly successful ERP and digital signage software business for the OOH sell-side. Now we’re adding mobile as a first class citizen to our programmatic tech stack, and AYUDA[x] is working directly with marketers and digital agencies on the buy side.”

AYUDA[x] is backed by a platform that includes a cross-screen ad server that can seamlessly shift mobile impressions to DOOH screens in real-time. The platform analyzes massive spatiotemporal datasets and uses geo-fences to tag devices that are physically observed in places of interest. It delivers ads in real-time to mobile apps on devices while inside the geo-fences, and retargets those same devices after they leave the geo-fences on both mobile apps and DOOH screens. The platform accesses data feeds from a variety of sources ranging from mobile exchanges & cellular to beacons. Algorithms optimize, in real-time, how creative is moved around screens, both mobile and DOOH.

Soupliotis finalized: “We’ve finally cracked location-based mobile marketing. Digital marketers are now empowered to target their desired audience based on past and present location, which is, after all, the ultimate cookie.”

Ströer and Ayuda – A Year of Innovation

Ayuda & Ströer lay the foundation for a programmatic future

By Daniel Fleischer, Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Jun 1, 2016

In the 12 months since Ströer and Ayuda first announced their partnership at the 2015 FEPE Congress in Budapest, much progress has been made towards updating and modernizing Ströer’s bespoke software ecosystem to lay the foundation for future programmatic innovation.

The migration of almost 3,500 screens to the Ayuda Platform was completed earlier this year with practically no downtime or disruption to the Public Video network. This is no small feat considering that the transition process involved remotely converting the player OS from Windows to Linux to reduce operating costs; physically swapping out older hardware devices to enable enhanced hardware acceleration features; and installing and configuring over 350 local Ayuda Cloud Extenders – software that minimizes the need for network bandwidth in malls and train stations throughout Germany. Leveraging this updated software foundation, Ströer and Ayuda continue to push forward with innovative new features and technology on the Public Video network such as real-time Twitter and social feeds integration, deployment of state-of-the-art roadside digital billboards, and a dynamic, impression-based booking and playout system.

The innovation and progress that Ayuda has enabled at Ströer doesn’t stop with the digital technology landscape either. Working with Ströer’s local & regional sales force teams, Ayuda has deployed a tailor-made Local Sales app which is currently being rolled out across Germany to several hundred local sales reps. Developed as both a native iOS app, as well as a responsive HTML app, the Ayuda Juice app enables local sales teams to track leads and contacts for local business accounts and obtain a 360 view of the activities against those accounts. Future enhancements will include availability checking, proposal generation, and booking confirmations – all while on the go from a salesperson’s mobile device.

One of the cornerstones of the Ströer / Ayuda partnership is the shared vision of a programmatic future for OOH. Both companies firmly believe that the only way to exponentially grow OOH revenue is to enable programmatic initiatives that tap into new online/digital revenue streams. With that goal in mind, rather than introducing disruptive, new, OOH-specific programmatic solutions, Ayuda has integrated their OOH ad-tech platform with industry-leading online Demand Side Platforms (DSPs) by leveraging initiatives such as the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB)’s OpenRTB and VAST industry standards.

“When an online buying agency can use their existing demand-side tools to instantly purchase Public Video inventory alongside YouTube pre-roll video ads and mobile ads, we have successfully opened up new channels of revenue that we would never have seen. This dream is now a reality in our Public Video network,” explains Christian von den Brincken, Head of Business Development, Strategy and Innovation at Ströer and the chief driver of Ströer’s programmatic initiatives.

With several DSP integrations already completed and running pilot programmatic campaigns, interest from other leading DSPs has surged. “We are in contact with many of the largest online ad-tech suppliers in Germany and across the world,” says Bruno Guerrero, Director, Programmatic Products at Ayuda. “Our mission is to integrate our OOH ad-tech platform with as many online DSPs as possible in the coming months,” adds Guerrero.

With the partnership already bearing fruit in the form of a modernized digital infrastructure and enhanced sales tools, both companies are looking ahead to the coming years with the goal of extending the reach of OOH into the online programmatic ecosystem.

Ayuda Introduces Realtime DOOH Ad Serving and Attribution using Mobile Data

Company introduces functionality to its supply-side platform that enables DOOH media sellers to offer a new class of campaigns that include realtime playout decisioning from mobile signals, while enabling retail DOOH media buyers to measure in-store visitation traffic

By Daniel Fleischer, Las Vegas, NV

Mar 15, 2016

Ayuda Media Systems, an ad tech company specializing in software for out-of-home media owners, announced today at the Digital Signage Expo 2016 that it has introduced functionality to its programmatic supply-side platform for DOOH media owners that enables realtime, non-predictive ad serving to target niche audiences and custom behaviors by leveraging data science to analyze mobile device concentration. The platform also offers attribution capabilities that measure how many devices were sighted in front of a DOOH asset, served an ad, and later visited a geofenced location such as a retail store.

“We’ve been testing this functionality globally in private marketplaces with premium guaranteed inventory for the past five months and the response from buyers has been phenomenal” commented Andreas Soupliotis, Founder & CEO of Ayuda. “Display, mobile and video-savvy buyers appreciate that algorithms move creative around non-predictively to retarget a niche audience within a DOOH network based on mobile device concentration. We’re essentially equipping DOOH media owners with location-based cookies, which helps them tap into new digital revenue streams”.

In addition to introducing realtime DOOH ad serving capabilities, Ayuda today introduced attribution capabilities to its self-serve buying platform that help buyers measure the effectiveness of DOOH campaigns. Data science algorithms are used to establish a 1-1 match of devices that were observed in line-of-sight of a DOOH asset when an ad was served, and were later observed in a pre-defined geofenced area. Retailers are particularly interested visitation-based attribution capabilities. In the United States, Ayuda has partnered with AirSage to feed its ad serving and attribution platform using AirSage data. AirSage is an aggregator of anonymous signaling data from cellular networks that processes over 15 billion geotemporal signals each day derived from 100 million devices. AirSage’s data science team has worked closely with Ayuda’s team to derive niche audiences and custom behaviors from raw signal data.

Ryan Kinskey, Director of Business Development from AirSage commented “I’m thrilled to be working with Ayuda to deliver a rinse, lather and repeatable, state-of-the art ad serving and attribution solution that unlocks the power of AirSage data.” It should be noted that Ayuda’s ad serving and attribution platform does not require media owners to convert their signage platforms and players to Ayuda. Thanks to advances in HTML5, Ayuda has successfully served ads to non-Ayuda players without the need for an API integration.

“We designed this from day one to work with heterogenous environments so that the barrier to entry could stay low” commented Soupliotis. When asked about pricing of such campaigns, Soupliotis replied “We’ve baked geotemporal ad serving and attribution into our platform. In doing so, we’re helping DOOH media owners create a new sales pitch that appeals to new digital buyers. This new class of campaign merits higher CPMs because of its targeting abilities, efficient digital playout, and attribution analysis.” Soupliotis further commented: “With our updated platform, DOOH creative essentially chases a niche audience throughout the day with playout decisioning guided in realtime by mobile signals, and we’re linking it with in-store visitation traffic. That’s programmatic execution. And while building programmatic pipes between buyers and sellers is all the rage, we believe programmatic execution from mobile data is the real needle mover to tap into mobile budgets.”

Ströer Chooses Ayuda

Germany’s largest provider of out-of-home and online advertising signs letter of intent with ad tech platform to power entire Out-of-Home-sales and operational workflow, including static poster and public video

By Daniel Fleischer Budapest, Hungary

Jun 11, 2015

Ayuda Media Systems (“Ayuda”), an out-of-home ad tech company announced today at the 2015 annual FEPE Congress that Ströer Media SE, Germany’s largest out-of-home advertising company, has signed a letter of intent agreeing to take on Ayuda’s complete software platform to power all media workflows. Sales, operations, digital scheduling and digital ad serving will all be managed through Ayuda’s comprehensive, integrated platform. Dr. Bernd Metzner, Ströer’s Chief Financial Officer, commented: “In Ayuda, we have selected a platform that will empower our entire workforce, opening up new and innovative opportunities for targeted customer contact for our advertisers. Ayuda’s single, integrated offering allows us to efficiently manage all our business from the same platform from the office or on the go from mobile devices.”

Ströer will be using the Ayuda Platform as an enterprise resource planning tool to integrate all sales and operations functions as well as public video ad serving for all markets in Germany, empowering both front-office and back-office personnel. Workflows that will be streamlined include availability & proposal generation, asset & inventory management, work order & copy management, billing & lease management, digital bookings, digital content management, and digital ad serving. Andreas Soupliotis, CEO of Ayuda shared: “It is a great honour that Germany’s most ubiquitous and premiere OOH media company has chosen the Ayuda Platform to run its business. Ströer is renowned for its culture of excellence – it is in their DNA to excel at whatever they pursue, and vendor selection is no exception. What made us especially attractive to Ströer is the fact that our ERP and digital signage CMS is one and the same product. This is in stark contrast to other offerings within our industry, where multiple vendors are needed to achieve the functional equivalence of the Ayuda Platform. I could not be more excited about Ströer’s and Ayuda’s partnership.”

Infoscreen, the public video division of Ströer that operates video advertising in train stations and shopping malls across Germany, is already in the process of migrating digital ad serving functionality to the Ayuda Platform. Dr. Metzner further commented on the decision to choose Ayuda: “The migration to the Ayuda Platform is transformational for our business. We are very pleased with the work Ayuda has produced for Ströer to date, and we look forward to a long-term partnership where Ayuda’s tools will support us as we scale and grow the business in the coming years.”

Company publishes custom iOS app for one of the largest OOH media companies in the Americas

By Daniel Fleischer, San Diego, CA

May 9, 2015

Ayuda Media Systems (“Ayuda”), an out-of-home (OOH) ad tech company announced today at the 2015 OAAA\TAB National Convention that it has developed and published a new app to the Apple Store called the Outfront app. The app was developed for Outfront Media, one of the largest OOH media companies in the Americas, and is available today on the Apple AppStore for iPhone and iPad devices. “We worked closely with Outfront to develop this app” commented Andreas Soupliotis, CEO of Ayuda. “We wanted to develop a magical and beautiful experience that made it joyful and easy to browse all of Outfront’s robust media assets from a mobile device.”

The app will be a valuable tool for both the local market and national buyers, as the mobile nature and vast catalog of information will enable easy access to the scope of information necessary to facilitate OOH programs. The app is a mix of location mapping, transit routes, and a product sheet. Items can be saved to iBooks, sent via email, or an RFP can be submitted to Outfront via a familiar shopping cart experience. Using Zest as a starting point allowed us to fast-track the development of the app, and focus on developing custom features with a custom user experience for Outfront.”

Jodi Senese, Chief Marketing Officer of Outfront Media commented: “The Outfront app enables a wide array of prospects to have easier access to the information they need to make the planning and buying process simpler. We have a very client-centric approach, and these kinds of tools help especially with technology-savvy advertisers.” Ayuda has been a long-time partner to OUTFRONT media, and has been providing services and products to the company since 2007.

EYE Corp Media expands usage of the Ayuda software platform to run all Media Operations

Largest mall media operator in America migrates to full Ayuda software stack to manage static media in addition to digital

By Daniel Fleischer, New York, New York

Apr 2, 2015

Ayuda Media Systems, a leading ad tech company for out-of-home advertising, announced today that EYE Corp Media has successfully migrated all media (both static and digital) to the Ayuda Platform. EYE Corp Media, the Out-of-Home media company that reaches consumers where they shop, dine, commute and play, is also the largest mall media operator in the United States, reaching more than 76 million unique consumers with heavy presence in the top DMAs through digital and backlit media in many iconic shopping malls.

EYE rolled out Splash as a digital CMS and player back in June 2014. Today, the company has completed its migration to the entire Ayuda Platform to manage static inventory as well – including contracts, proposals, and work orders. “Providing more value than digital signage to EYE has always been our agenda from day one” commented Daniel Fleischer, Ayuda’s Vice President of Global Business Development.

“This has been a natural progression to our full product stack. EYE first signed onto Ayuda’s digital signage application, and then organically expanded onto the rest of our ERP platform, which is much, much larger than the signage piece alone. While we do CMS and playback very well, it only represents 5% of our product stack. I’m delighted that EYE has agreed to be on our full platform”.

“The most important take-away from this exclusive alliance is that EYE continues to build on our suite of products and services, optimizing our process and efficiencies for agencies and direct clients.” said Jeff Gunderman, President of EYE Corp Media. “The Ayuda platform provides us with smooth, accurate and responsive operations, thereby enhancing our already top-notch customer service. Having all inventory and operations managed on a single, cutting-edge platform means we can quickly deploy new, innovative client offerings like EYE Post and seamlessly incorporate our newest OOH platforms, EYE Commute and EYE Play, into our EYE Shop and EYE Amplify portfolios. Plus, we can look forward to Ayuda innovations like private programmatic marketplace and more. With Ayuda, we deliver top-notch technology and service to our clients.”

Janene Niblock, EYE’s Director of Business Systems, elaborates, “Working with Ayuda has helped transform how we operate our day-to-day business. After experiencing great success migrating our entire digital network to their platform, I recognized efficiencies we would acquire by moving other components of our product inventory, like backlit displays and mobile, to Ayuda. Our goal was to seamlessly manage all our Sales Support, Traffic, Service Delivery, Invoicing and Reporting on their platform. This initiative is inherently challenging, with many moving parts. Ayuda’s support team worked with us every step of the way to ensure successful user-adoption. They partnered with our in-house experts to bring everyone on my team along the journey. The most satisfying moment for me was when my team expressed how much faster, efficient and more user-friendly the Ayuda platform was. I couldn’t ask for anything more!” “EYE’s decision to bring all digital and traditional media operations under one platform bears noteworthy significance to our OOH community,” said Daniel Fleischer. “Ayuda is the only platform in existence that provides both the newest technological offerings and enables the OOH media owner to manage every aspect of their business from a single platform, including robust digital playback. EYE’s experience is a testimony to the business benefits of a unified workflow.”

Ayuda Launches Private Marketplaces and Private Exchanges for DOOH Media Sellers

Company introduces a family of new products to its signature platform with private marketplaces and private exchanges operated and controlled by media sellers

By Daniel Fleischer, Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mar 10, 2015

Ayuda Media Systems, an ad tech company specializing in software for digital and static out-of-home media owners, announced today at the Digital Signage Expo 2015 that it is introducing multiple new product additions to its extensive platform that will help DOOH media owners embrace new programmatic revenue streams while exerting total control on the sell side.

“Ayuda is transforming. We are evolving from an OOH ERP platform to a supply-side-platform (SSP). This change touches all of our products – from proposal generation, to CMS and digital playback, right up to invoicing” commented Andreas Soupliotis, Founder and CEO of Ayuda. “This transformation manifests today with the introduction of several new products that programmatically enable the Ayuda Platform. The first, is an SSP that allows our clients (the sellers) to create packages of targeted impression inventory that can be published to one of four, distinct private marketplaces: a premium guaranteed marketplace, a deals marketplace, a performance-based marketplace, and an auction marketplace, all of which are controlled and operated by the seller.” Soupliotis continued by explaining each of the private marketplaces: “The premium guaranteed marketplace streamlines and automates the current direct sales process by pricing guaranteed inventory impressions with a fixed price, while the deals marketplace allows the seller to create deals, such as ‘pay a discounted CPM for three times as many impressions’.

The performance-based marketplace is based on Ayuda’s patented Pay Per Look algorithms, where an indoor media seller can set up a rate card based on how long people look at the ad. The last marketplace, the auctions marketplace, allows the seller to set up a real-time bidding (RTB) marketplace that uses a seller-operated private ad exchange with soft and hard auction floor pricing control.”

Joe Cotugno, Partner and Senior Vice-President of Global Client Services at Ayuda, commented “For the past 11 years, Ayuda has focused on streamlining and automating processes for DOOH media owners. The juxtaposition DOOH media owners face today is they’d like to be part of programmatic buys in pursuit of incremental revenue, but are nervous about losing control of their inventory and driving down CPMs. With the Ayuda Platform, the seller has total control over the entire process.” When asked about the engineering investment on programmatically enabling the Ayuda Platform, Pierre-Yves Troel, Partner and Chief Software Architect at Ayuda, commented “We’ve had a dedicated team of developers and data scientists working on this for over a year. In particular, we’ve spent a lot of energy developing algorithms and pricing models from second-price auction theory to power the private RTB marketplace and private exchange. In addition, since ad serving is a core component of the programmatic model, significant development effort has been expended on enhancing our Nirvana ad server originally launched last year.” In addition to offering private marketplaces and a private exchanges for media sellers, the Ayuda Platform will also offer a seller-branded iPhone and iPad app that media buyers can use to buy programmatically, directly from the media sellers’ private marketplaces.

Daniel Fleischer, Vice-President of Global Business Development at Ayuda, commented: “This is a natural and organic transformation of an ERP product we have spent 11 years building. We are evolving from an ERP + CMS + player platform to an ad tech platform in anticipation of a new programmatic world where automation is king.”

Ayuda Continues Rapid International Expansion

Company hires Brazilian digital signage industry expert Luciano Ramo as Director of Business Development for Brazil

By Daniel Fleischer, Sao Paulo, Brazil

Dec 1, 2014

Ayuda Media Systems, makers of the world’s most sophisticated software platform for DOOH networks, today announced that it has hired industry expert Luciano Ramo in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to oversee and spearhead further South American growth for the company. Ramo, a longtime industry veteran, will leverage his extensive knowledge of the Brazilian DOOH market to support the growth that Ayuda has been experiencing in South America primarily from Brazil, the region’s fastest growing DOOH market.

Luciano’s life has been dedicated to mastering and driving innovation and growth within Brazilian’s DOOH industry. Most recently as Executive Director of Business Development at Nemooh Midia, Luciano grew the company from concept to one of the fastest growing networks of digital advertising screens on buses. During just 3 years at JCHEBLY, Brazil’s largest digital signage solutions integrator, Luciano grew the company’s digital screen footprint by over 2000%, as well as personally spearheaded the creation and implementation of some of Brazil’s most prominent video walls. Luciano leverages his deep understanding of the systems that power the DOOH industry, as well as his extensive history managing Sales and IT teams, to build successful enterprises that contribute to Brazil’s pole position in DOOH sector growth in South America and the world.

Daniel Fleischer, Ayuda’s Vice President of Global Business Development, stated “Brazil’s DOOH industry keeps growing year-over-year and we can no longer keep up, without Luciano’s expert help, with all the demand we have been seeing for Ayuda’s software – which is the only one capable of managing a DOOH network’s entire workflow on a single platform. Moreover, Ayuda’s SplashCMS & player are being recognized in their own right as being just as capable as the industry’s usual suspects in the region and internationally, as demonstrated by our ongoing string of milestone wins. Add to this the fact that Ayuda can offer networks a single platform to economically manage their entire company’s operations, and there exists no reason why Ayuda cannot significantly contribute to Brazil’s DOOH success. Luciano shares our vision, and I am humbled by his decision to join in our efforts to provide Brazil and South America with the best OOH management and digital signage software in the world.”

Luciano added enthusiastically, “Brazil needs Ayuda, and I am ecstatic about being the one chosen to help bring Ayuda’s world-class software to the D/OOH markets. Currently 24% of the Brazilian OOH market is Digital, and growing rapidly. While a few local and international digital CMS solutions already exist here, nothing comes close to the caliber and completeness of the Ayuda offering. Having personally implemented several digital signage solutions and projects throughout my career, I can attest to Ayuda having the only single platform in the world that can truly deliver what Brazil operators badly require: Inventory & Contract management, integrated Digital Signage CMS, POP, Invoicing, Leasing, Business Reporting, interactive client portals, and everything else that Ayuda offers to help consolidate an operator’s business from multiple systems that don’t speak to each other, onto a single platform. Ayuda will make network owners’ lives so much easier. I am overjoyed to be a catalyst for Ayuda’s success in Brazil.”

EYE Corp Media chooses Ayuda Media Systems’ Splash™ Digital Signage Software

Flexible, robust platform will help optimize advertisers’ scheduling flexibility and media spend

By Daniel Fleischer, New York, NY

Jul 28, 2014

Ayuda Media Systems, makers of the world’s most sophisticated software platform for DOOH networks, is very proud to that announce EYE Corp Media has successfully transitioned their entire digital mall network to Ayuda’s Splash™ digital signage module of the Ayuda Platform. EYE Corp Media is the largest mall media operator in the United States, reaching over 76 million unique consumers across the country with heavy presence in the top DMAs through both digital and backlit media in many of the country’s most iconic shopping malls. The conversion to Splash™, completed in June, enhances EYE’s digital network for the growing demand of day-parting and day-of-week scheduling, sponsorship opportunities for time and weather as well as mobile and social media connectivity.

To support evolving industry standards, EYE’s digital network ads are now 8-seconds in length, and accept full motion and flash animation as well as static ads. Additionally, as advertisers create more customized content for digital place-based screens, the platform will enable use of more dynamic video content.

“We are delighted to have already converted all of EYE’s digital network to be powered by our Splash™ digital signage software” commented Daniel Fleischer, Vice-President of Business Development at Ayuda. “EYE went through a detailed and thorough vendor analysis, and they chose Splash™ based on the product’s deep digital feature set, as well as its robustness.” Fleischer is referring to the massively scalable cloud that Splash™ uses that is based on the Microsoft Azure backbone. He continued: “We were up against the usual suspects of software vendors in digital signage, and Splash™ won. We expect more of these digital wins in the future as we continue to enhance our digital offering.”

“The transition to Ayuda was seamless,” mentions Janene Niblock, Eye’s Director of Business Systems. In less than a month, we were able to convert our entire digital inventory to Ayuda’s Splash™ players and CMS. The Ayuda team have been enthusiastically supporting our conversion in a thoroughly hands-on manner, and the process couldn’t have been easier. I have no doubt that the partnership we enjoy with Ayuda will continue to play a key role in supporting the technology initiatives which maintain Eye’s leadership position in mall media.”

Ayuda Seeds new iPhone App to Apple App Store

Ayuda Media Systems releases new iOS App called the “Ayuda App” for OOH operators that includes location browsing of inventory on maps, photo sheets, proposal generation with TAB OOH Ratings, and a social-like news feed for what’s trending.

By Daniel Fleischer, Orlando, Florida

Apr 7, 2014

Ayuda Media Systems, developers of the Ayuda Platform for OOH operators today released at the TAB/OAAA OOH Media Conference and Marketing Expo in Orlando Florida a new piece of software to their Ayuda Platform: the Ayuda App for iPhone. “Mobile first, cloud first.” commented Andreas Soupliotis, CEO of Ayuda about the company’s new strategy.

“Most of us use our phone and tablets more than our notebooks today. We’re thus living in a world where offering a great experience on an iPhone or iPad is more important than having a great desktop experience. We already have products like Juice and Splash that scale to devices because they use HTML5 adaptive layouts, but to really get it right, you’ve got to offer a native app.” The Ayuda App version 1.0 includes two main functions: inventory browsing, and a Facebook-like news feed. The inventory browser includes features such as browsing locations on a map or in list view with filters for media type and sales markets, photo sheets, list rate cards, TAB OOH Ratings, and the ability to create a proposal and email it to clients. The news feed includes a Facebook-like wall that posts, in real time, relevant information on campaigns the user is tracking. The user can “follow” and “like” any piece of information they want such as: advertiser, a campaign, a location, a hold, or copy arrival. Any information on what they are following ends up on their news feed, with hashtagging support.

Initially developed for iPhone, Ayuda has plans of soon releasing an iPad version with an experience that takes full advantage of retina display.

“Location-centric OOH operators will love being able to browse their own inventory on a map so easily from their phones. Consumers have great apps on their phones like Trulia for renting real estate, and we’re trying to provide that same level of fun to OOH locations. Some digital OOH locations in New York cost $150,000 a month for an eight second spot, and sometimes the account executive takes the buyer to see the location before buying it. With the Ayuda App, the account executive can pull out their phone and show the buyer photos of past campaigns, maps, rates, TAB OOH ratings and email the client a location list or proposal right there on the spot, thus leaving a useful trail of the conversation.”

Initially targeted to be used by account executives working for OOH companies that are running the Ayuda Platform, the app acts as a placeholder for more to come.

Soupliotis stated “This is just the beginning. In the coming 12 months, we’ll continually add more functionality to this app. What we would like is to one day arrive at a point where the functionality on the app has feature parity with the functionality in Juice and Splash, our core products for OOH sales, inventory and scheduling. In order to survive in a world where devices rule our lives, you need both an HTML5 Web application for notebooks and a native app for tablets and phones, and our game plan is to make both platforms equally rich in functionality as each other.”

Soupliotis also compared this move to Microsoft’s decision to release Microsoft Office on the iPad: “Satya Nadella gets it – he released Office for the iPad as a companion app to Office on the desktop. We’re following a similar strategy with the Ayuda Platform by releasing this companion app.” Soupliotis’ commented: “Mobile devices are now the primary means by which users are accessing Web sites, and the number of people using sites on mobile devices is projected to triple within the next year. Software vendors in our space have to start offering native apps on devices, or they may be faced a total re-write of their products down the road.”

The Ayuda App is being offered at no charge to existing clients, and is available for iPhone today in the Apple Appstore.

Ayuda Unveils Nirvana Ad Server for Digital Billboard Companies

Ayuda Media Systems demonstrates the elimination of the conventional playlist in favor of online ad serving model for DOOH networks, at Digital Signage Expo 2014

By Daniel Fleischer, Las Vegas, NV

Feb 12, 2014

Ayuda Media Systems, makers of the world’s most sophisticated software platform for DOOH networks, is unveiling a concept demonstration of Nirvana, which explores the possibility of transforming a conventional digital signage software player into an ad server that mimics the behavior of online internet ad servers. Using Big Data sources, Nirvana continuously re-targets desired demographics during the campaign and shifts the creative accordingly, effectively delivering an automated way for Digital Billboard operators to sell audience and budget as opposed to locations.

Nirvana uses Ayuda’s Cerebro out-of-home media plan optimization engine that automatically chooses optimal locations for campaigns based on the desired campaign objectives. Cerebro already uses audience data such as TAB OOH ratings as campaign goals, but can also use an infinite number of additional parameters and input sources to create the best plan. Nirvana essentially continuously re-runs Cerebro during campaign execution using Big Data sources such as FourSquare check-in APIs, cellular carrier data insights and others, while keeping an eye on what’s trending in social networks. Nirvana rotates the campaign creative to maximize demographic fulfillment.

“Programmatic buying is all the rage today”, says Andreas Soupliotis, Ayuda’s founder and CEO. “While a lot of interesting work is being done for digital place-based advertising, no platform has yet addressed the unique aspects of digital billboard companies, where loops, spots, and playlists are beginning to show their age. Therefore, the initial focus of Nirvana is on these outdoor digital companies, who are already using the Ayuda Platform to manage their digital signage. Nirvana brings the online ad server method of ad targeting and distribution to the digital billboard operator, eliminating the need for the conventional playlist.”

Pierre Yves Troël, Ayuda’s Chief Software Architect and head of the Ayuda Labs group of technophile developers, further explains: “We are exploring algorithms that cross-reference the Big Data sources and what’s trending demographically to gather anonymous “outdoor cookies” on vehicular and pedestrian observers passing by digital billboards to enable behavioral and contextual targeting. “This is how banner advertising on Web sites work – your Internet browser gathers cookies about sites you’ve visited, and then Web sites tap into those cookies to serve you targeted ads. With Nirvana, we’re trying to make digital billboards work that way.”

Soupliotis further elaborates on why Nirvana is particularly interesting to the outdoor digital billboard operator: “Multiple ad serving platforms exist for online media, both multi-publisher (multi-website) and specialized single publisher ad servers. Nirvana is analogous to the latter, which makes sense for the very large outdoor digital operators who I do not believe will agree to be part of a cross-company ad serving platform for some time. This is one of the reasons why today’s DOOH cross-company ad serving platforms focus on the digital placed-based space. For the moment, a single-company ad server like Nirvana affords the large outdoor digital operator the control they want. The Nirvana ad server currently works with Ayuda’s own Splash™ players, although Ayuda is exploring how some of these extensions can be offered to the public open source community. Says Soupliotis: “If we one day extend Nirvana to the OpenSplash community, what we’ll see is essentially a free, open source digital signage player that has ad serving capabilities. This would finally liberate digital signage operators from selling spots in loops and day parts, enabling them instead to sell an audience that can be continually re-targeted throughout the campaign, just like in online media. Do I think that large digital billboard companies will start trading in playlist-based players for ad serving players tomorrow? No. And I don’t think it will happen next year either. But in three to five years? Maybe. When that happens, Ayuda will be there.”

Canada Getting Juiced with Cerebro™ from Ayuda

Ayuda Media Systems to bring Cerebro™ Out-Of-Home Media Plan Optimization Engine to Canadian Operators, along with Juice™ OOH audience-based media sales app

By Daniel Fleischer, Toronto, ON – Canada

Nov 14, 2013

Ayuda Media Systems, makers of the world’s most sophisticated software platform for digital and traditional OOH networks, is introducing its Cerebro™ OOH media plan optimization engine to Canadian Operators, on demonstration today at OMAC’s IGNITE event in Toronto.

At the same time, Ayuda’s Juice™ app which delivers the industry’s only unified tool for checking avails, generating audience based proposals, and CRM, will take full advantage of Cerebro™’s optimized audience planning engine. This means that Canadian Operators who use Juice™ will be able to create GRP based proposals and plans, optimized according to any set of geographic and demographic constraints, directly from within the avails engine and proposal generator. Cerebro™ and Juice snap onto Operators’ existing inventory and scheduling tools, making it easy for the Operator to enhance sales capabilities without having to replace any of their existing operational software.

Ayuda launched Cerebro™ earlier this year and has been introducing it to markets where OOH is sold using audited audience data. Until now, Cerebro™ has been available to the US market using TAB OOH Ratings data, and in the UK using Route data. Recently, Ayuda enhanced Cerebro™ with the ability to ingest any source of audience data, which has paved the way for its introduction into Canada. Cerebro™ is a mathematical optimization engine that takes prioritized goal inputs such as reach & frequency, panel quantity, geographical dispersion, as well as any manner of audience data, and delivers a plan that optimizes over each of those targets. Cerebro™ inputs an unlimited number of parameters and objectives, as well as the media Operator’s own business rules, and consequently uses various mathematical optimization and meta-heuristic techniques to combine these disparate goals and output a set of candidate media plans that match the campaign objectives.

By crunching all these objectives against the Operator’s own available inventory while using their business rules as guidance, Cerebro™ assists the Operator’s sales executives and schedulers to propose and pick inventory that precisely meets campaign objectives, and ultimately assists in maximizing occupancy.

Daniel Fleischer, Ayuda’s Vice President of Business Development, elaborates: “Ayuda is excited to be introducing Juice™ and Cerebro™ into the Canadian OOH landscape, filling what I believe to be a void in the marketplace from a software perspective. Today in Canada we sell on GRPs, but the systems that media salespeople use don’t automatically ingest that data for direct usage within their proposal and planning software. Ayuda flexibly solves this problem. In its simplest version, Cerebro™ can deliver audience data as web services directly into the software that the Operators are already using. Or, the Operator can have Cerebro™ do the number crunching for you, and deliver an optimized plan directly to the proposal or charting systems that are already in place. Similarly, Cerebro™ can deliver the audience data or optimized plans directly into our own Juice™ application, enabling the media account executive to propose plans based on audience instead of locations, based on the Operator’s real-time avails, recorded within the CRM automatically. Whether via integration or as an add-on, Cerebro™ and Juice™ will help Canadian Operators sell smarter.”

Ayuda Introduces Newest Version of Juice™ Powered by Cerebro™ and DPb impressions methodologies

Ayuda Media Systems delivers world’s first proposal generation tool that simultaneously optimizes over any custom audience data and geographical constraints, and ties into live avails

By Daniel Fleischer, New York, NY

Oct 22, 2013

Ayuda Media Systems (“Ayuda”), makers of the world’s most sophisticated software platform for digital and traditional OOH networks, has today introduced the latest update of its Juice™ product (the sales portion of the Ayuda Platform). The update now enables Juice™ to create proposals that optimize over audience data provided by any custom impressions counting and reporting methodology, while optimizing over geographic constraints and custom business rules. While Ayuda launched Cerebro™ earlier this year, until now it was only available to outdoor operators who use audited data provided by TAB in the USA, and Route in the UK. Now that Cerebro™ has been expanded with the ability to ingest any audience data calculated by any custom impressions reporting methodology, Juice™ powered by Cerebro™ is finally available to DPb networks.

Juice™ is the sales component of the Ayuda Platform that consists of a CRM, avails checker, and proposal generator. It generates proposals and plans on either a location basis, or audience goal basis. The DPb enabled version of Juice™ powered by Cerebro™ is now available to all DPb networks who may use their own audience data and calculation methodologies directly in the plan optimization engine. Daniel Fleischer, Ayuda’s VP Business Development, states: “Cerebro™ has received widespread interest and recognition by the outdoor community in the past half year since its release.

Now, we are excited to be able to offer DPb networks the ability to create plans and proposals based on their real-time avails, using whatever impressions reporting methodology is employed by the individual network. Juice™, an HTML5 browser based application, lets any DPb media account executive view avails in real-time from their mobile devices, and then create proposals on available inventory based on the audience goals required for the buy. This new version of Juice™ powered by Cerebro™ is now flexible enough to adapt to the audience measurement methodology of any Digital Place-based network, which means we can provide optimized proposals based on audience goals and real avails to absolutely any DPb network in the world.” Juice™ powered by Cerebro™ for DPb networks will be on demonstration at the DPAA Video Everywhere summit.

By Andreas Soupliotis, Montreal, Canada

Oct 22, 2013

Ayuda Media Systems, the developer of the Ayuda Platform – an end-to-end software platform for OOH companies, announced today at the DPAA 2013 Summit that Daniel Fleischer has been named as Vice-President of Business Development. Daniel Fleischer originally joined Ayuda in 2011 as Director of Business Development.

“We believe in organically promoting within” said Andreas Soupliotis, President & CEO of Ayuda Media Systems. Soupliotis continued: “Dan joined Ayuda at a perfect time, as we were transitioning out of a pure R&D organization into a client-focused organization. He really helped build our client base over the past couple of years. His deep industry knowledge in digital signage has really helped us grow into the space as a leader. I’m delighted to share this promotion with the entire industry.”

Fleischer is known for his deep commitment to the industry and for championing an integrated approach to signage. Fleischer commented: “The reason I joined Ayuda about three years ago was that we have a completely different strategy than most of the other software vendors in the space. Ayuda is the only company that offers a comprehensive and integrated solution that marries the sales process of OOH with execution and finance – for both digital and traditional. And my favorite part of being with Ayuda is the culture – we are the only company that consistently innovates with new products and ideas. I love waking up in the morning and coming into the office because there’s so much exciting new stuff always going on.”

A big advocate in providing customer care and forging strategic partnerships, Fleischer is known for his passionate style and endless enthusiasm about the industry. He will play a key role in Ayuda as it continues to expand internationally into the Americas, Latin America and Asia Pacific regions. He is an industry veteran with a proven track record. Soupliotis stated: “I am 100% convinced that Dan is the right person for this job. He has forged a number of key relationships along with a long track record of superior performance. The manner in which he has conducted himself as a leader aligns perfectly with our culture at Ayuda”.
