Ayuda Announces Juice™ App for iOS

Ayuda Media Systems delivers world’s first OOH proposal generation natively built iPad Retina and iPad Mini, and iPhone 5.

May 19, 2013

Ayuda Media Systems (Ayuda), makers of the world’s most sophisticated software platform for traditional and digital OOH companies, has today unveiled a new version of Juice™ (the sales part of the Ayuda Platform) that have been built from the ground up as a native iOS App, targeting iPad, iPad Mini, and iPhone. JuiceTM for iPad is a particularly exciting option – with a few taps of their finger, sales reps can generate beautiful proposals based on live avails with maps and photo sheets that can be sent to the client.

Andreas Soupliotis, President & CEO of Ayuda Media Systems stated “Juice has been an enormous success for us. Our clients love the fact that their sales teams have been empowered with CRM and proposal making tools built exclusively for OOH. But Juice was originally built as an HTML5 web app, optimized for a notebook or desktop experience that commands the usage of a mouse, not a finger, which is fatter than a mouse. Today, we just added a native iOS version of Juice.”

He continued: “Increasingly, we see more and more OOH sales reps using iPads. Mature software vendors should really offer both an HTML5 experience and a native app, because the HTML5 version just doesn’t scale down perfectly to a device. For example, when we try and make an HTML5 app “scale” down to a iPad, we experience “fat-fingering” when trying to select basic user interface elements such as drop-downs, and check boxes. Also, native applications are hardware accelerated and richer, while browser-applications are less richer. Moreover, the trend for apps right now is to a use single-page app layout, something which doesn’t always make sense on the desktop”. Soupliotis has always been passionate about the “app versus HTML5” debate and has given public talks on the subject.

He summarized by stating, “if you’re a serious software vendor, you’ve got to offer both. Trying to hit two birds with one stone (i.e. HTML5) leaves you with a weak mobile story. And being empowered while mobile for sales reps is critical – they are always on the go, and they love their iPads.”

19 May Ayuda Introduces New Version of Juice™ Powered by Cerebro™

Ayuda Media Systems delivers world’s first proposal generation tool that simultaneously optimizes over TAB OOH Ratings and geographical constraints and ties into live avails.

By Daniel Fleischer, Los Angeles, CA

May 19, 2013

Ayuda Media Systems (Ayuda), makers of the world’s most sophisticated software platform for traditional and digital OOH companies, has today introduced a new version of Juice™ (the sales part of the Ayuda Platform) that includes a new option to create optimal proposals that optimize over TAB OOH Ratings and geographical constraints.

“This is the first time the industry has ever seen a proposal generator for OOH this powerful” stated Andreas Soupliotis, President & CEO of Ayuda. “Currently, there are software suppliers for the OOH industry that offer cross-operator, planning tools and there are software suppliers that offer cross-operator buying tools. These two kinds of suppliers have had to historically merge their offerings in a fragmented way since they can’t do both. However, with our new version of Juice that is powered by Cerebro, this is the first time a sales team within an operator can enjoy a single vendor planning and buying experience that brings concepts into a proposal maker such as: reach-frequency, plan TRPs, weekly impression, budget, quantity, maximize dispersion (geographically), geo-targeting and proximity targeting, while all tying into real avails.” Soupliotis continued: “What enabled us to build this new version of Juice was our investment in Cerebro™, the OOH decision engine. Cerebro can recommend a proposal by processing an arbitrary number of campaign objectives, optimizing over TAB OOH ratings and rich geo-targeting. By exposing these capabilities in Juice, sales teams in an OOH company finally have the long-awaited capability of building proposals based on an audited demographic audience, as opposed to cherry-picking locations off a map – something the industry has being trying to move away from for years but has lacked the tools to do so.”

Ayuda’s Cerebro is an algorithmic engine that ingests TAB audited demographic audience data in real-time using the TAB’s web services. The data is then referenced against a set of objectives and parameters from the operator in order to create an optimized plan across all campaign goals. Cerebro inputs an unlimited number of parameters and objectives, including audience demographics, multiple specific geographic constraints, and the operator’s own business rules. Cerebro then outputs a set of candidate media plans that match the campaign objectives, ranked in order of maximum amount of objectives achieved, while also using the operator’s own business logic to ensure that the same “favorite” panels are not always selected.

By crunching all these objectives against the operator’s own actual inventory while using their business rules as guidance, Cerebro assists the operator’s sales executives and chartists to propose and pick inventory that maximizes occupancy.

Lamar Advertising Company deploys Ayuda’s Cerebro™

Lamar first to offer optimized OOH Ratings based campaigns based on Ayuda Media System’s CerebroTM media planning engine

By Daniel Fleischer, Los Angeles, CA

May 19, 2013

Ayuda Media Systems proudly announced at the 2013 OAAA National Convention that Lamar Advertising is paving the way for TAB OOH ratings based media plans, by being the first out-of-home company to implement the Ayuda Cerebro™ media planning optimization engine. Cerebro helps automate how proposals and plans are generated from Lamar’s internally built sales and charting applications.

Lamar Advertising is North America’s largest OOH advertising company, with the nation’s largest overall coverage of regional markets. Ayuda’s Cerebro is a mathematical, algorithmic engine that ingests TAB audited audience data in real-time using the TAB’s web services.

Tommy Teepell, Lamar’s Chief Marketing Officer, commented: “The Lamar experience is about an outstanding relationship with our clients, and our service offering to them. To keep up that level of service, we wanted to fully embrace and support the TAB’s OOH Ratings. We wanted our own proposal and charting applications to speak the language of demographic audience. Bringing our idea of a decision engine, that would tie ratings to our in-house systems, to Ayuda helped us accomplish this goal. We want to pave the way for smarter proposal creation, optimize and automate the way our team sells. ”

Andreas Soupliotis, Ayuda’s CEO, proudly states: “Lamar played an instrumental role in the innovation of the decision engine and helped evolve its initial iteration. They wanted to embrace TAB OOH Ratings as a first class citizen, within their already outstanding set of in-house developed sales, proposal generation, charting, and finance tools. Considering that Lamar already has a deep set of business rules that they apply to their sales and charting methodology, they were in a perfect position to provide us with guidance to refine and polish the optimization parameters. What Ayuda was able to bring to the table was the mathematics and creativity to create the world’s first artificial intelligence media planning brain, using Lamar’s business logic input. Lamar wanted to have their tools speak the language of TRPs, Reach & Frequency, and OOH Ratings, while performing the almost impossible task of optimizing all these objectives within very specific geographic constraints, all from their own inventory. Optimizing across all these parameters generally requires a media planner’s experience and brain, so Ayuda built a decision engine to accomplish precisely this task in an automated manner, specifically for the operator’s own inventory. We then took this decision engine and branded it as Cerebro, designed to have its parameter logic customized using the specific business rules of any outdoor company using it.”

Cerebro is being unveiled today and is available to any outdoor operator as a set of APIs that plug into the operator’s existing set of inventory management tools, or as an optional add-on to Ayuda’s own platform which manages all elements of the media sales, operations, and execution workflow.

Ayuda Introduces Post™ – OOH Mobile Workforce Automation on Android

Ayuda Media Systems unveils first traditional OOH work order management system on Android OS

By Daniel Fleischer, Los Angeles, CA

May 19, 2013

Ayuda Media Systems (Ayuda), makers of the world’s most sophisticated software platform for traditional and digital OOH companies, has today unveiled Post™, an Android app that offers mobile workforce automation to OOH billposters.

Post™ can integrate with any OOH system, because it has been built using Web services. It’s backbone is cloud-based, which runs on Windows Azure. Post™ dispatches work orders to its users in a visually rich way. Work orders can be managed by BMS, Ayuda’s flagship product for traditional OOH operations management, or be fed from a third-party source. Billposters received instruction on the device, such as what to post, where, when, or what maintenance tasks to perform. They can also create maintenance tasks on the fly. Post™ takes advantage of image processing libraries to offer (1D and 2D) barcode scanning, and also takes advantage of GPS on the device. Post™ wraps up the process by instructing the billposter to take a picture of the completed work order, which is fed wirelessly to the Ayuda Proof of Performance engine.

In addition Post™ also offers in-depth business intelligence on the efficiency of the billposting process. It comes with a beautiful HTML5 dashboard that allows the billposting manager to analyze the performance of his plant. It can answer questions such as “Which billposters post the fastest? Which billposters make the most errors. How many postings has this billposter completed over the last week?”

Andreas Soupliotis, President & CEO stated: “In 2005 we introduced BMS™ Mobile – the first workforce automation for OOH billposters. Today, that product is being replaced by Post™, our newest and most complete OOH workforce automation tool ever built. It includes rich work order and posting management, crew and route management, copy management, GPS validation, barcode validation and stamping using either the onboard camera (as opposed to a laser scanner), and picture taking for Proof of Performance purposes.”

When Soupliotis was asked why Android was the chosen operating system for Post™ he commented “Years ago we used to recommend ruggedized, foolishly-expensive devices (e.g. Motorola/Intermec/Symbol) that run on hard-to-use tethered stylus-based operating systems like Windows Mobile 6.5. Both that hardware and operating system are legacy and are headed in the fast lane for end-of-life. Today, we are all using phones that offer beautiful user experiences that have made us familiar with using a finger to navigate through the OS. Finger touch is fun and easy. And the replacement cost of one ruggedized device is equivalent to the replacement cost of 10 Android phones. This means you can drop and break an Android device 10 times before you need to replace one ruggedized device.”

Soupliotis continued “Android is the most dominant mobile operating system in the world today. The beauty of our solution is that billposters can use their own personal phone, and just go to the Google Play store and download Post™. They need only sign-in, and they can start working immediately. Having billposters use their own personal devices is a cost-effective measure for OOH operators that outsource their billposting because it means they don’t have to buy them devices. As a general rule to maximize longevity, IT decision makers should avoid making investments in vertical, expensive hardware when inexpensive, commoditized hardware fits the bill perfectly. In this regard, Post™ is ideal for saving money.” Post™ is currently available on the Google Play store.

Ayuda Announces Cerebro™

Ayuda Media Systems to Unveil Outdoor Media Planning Optimization Engine

By Daniel Fleischer, Los Angeles, CA

May 19, 2013

Ayuda Media Systems, makers of the world’s most sophisticated media operations platform for Outdoor and D/OOH networks, will be unveiling a revolutionary media planning & optimization tool specifically designed for Outdoor operators to maximize occupancy rates, during the planning, proposal, and booking phases of the media sales workflow. Cerebro™ is a mathematical optimization engine that takes prioritized goal inputs such as reach, frequency, Target Rating Points, panel amount goals, and geographical location goals and delivers a plan that optimizes over those targets. Cerebro uses various mathematical optimization and meta heuristic techniques to combine these disparate goals and output an optimal plan.

Because the CerebroTM planning optimization engine is exposed as web services, it can plug into any contemporary sales, proposal, or charting tool that is typically used today by the Outdoor operator, including homegrown software. It also seamlessly integrates with the Ayuda Platform, for those operators already using Ayuda to run their outdoor operations.

Andreas Soupliotis, CEO of Ayuda, provides details: “People have asked us why not just use the existing TAB web services to obtain TRPs and Reach & Frequency data. That’s fine, until you want to add geographical constraints or optimize over specific geographic coverage, in which case the mathematics quickly become non- linear and complex. You can use TAB web services to create a 200 TRP plan in a specific DMA, but what if you want those 200 TRPs to come from specific targeted locations? That’s quite difficult, which is why you need the brain of a media planner. Cerebro is the brain that automates this process, no matter how many plan objectives you throw at it, returning a media plan that optimizes over all of the potentially unlimited objectives you feed it. This non-linear optimization is the core of Cerebro ’s power, and the math behind it is what Ayuda does so incredibly well. We recognize that not everyone in the outdoor community runs Ayuda’s line-of-business platform, and that they may already use their own proprietary systems for proposal generation, charting, POP and operations. So, by making Cerebro available as a set of web services separate from our core platform, we can help the entire industry maximize their occupancy rates while leveraging TAB OOH ratings, all proposed from their own available inventory. ”

Ayuda’s Cerebro is an algorithmic engine that ingests TAB audited audience data in real-time using the TAB’s web services. Cerebro is being unveiled today and is available to any outdoor operator (who is a TAB member) as web services that plug into the operator’s existing set of inventory management tools, or as an optional add-on to Ayuda’s own platform which manages all elements of the media sales, operations, and execution workflow.
