In Oscar like fashion, Ayuda proudly accepted from Microsoft the highly coveted “2012 Windows Azure Application – Partner of the Year Award” for its Splash™ Digital Signage Product. Ayuda Splash™ was chosen amongst many brilliant finalists at the Microsoft Impact Awards Gala. The black tie gala, hosted by Microsoft at the luxurious Four Seasons Toronto, was a first class dinner by invitation only event. Each year, Microsoft recognizes innovation and excellence in the technology Partner community through the Microsoft Partner Network IMPACT Awards program. “We are delighted to accept this prestigious award” commented Pierre-Yves Troel, Ayuda’s Chief Software Architect. Also a Partner at Ayuda, Troel continued “I am so proud of our team of architects and developers. Tonight, Microsoft has truly rewarded us for the deep investment we’ve made with Azure.

Three years ago, the R&D team at Ayuda took a controversial decision to go “all-in” with Azure. We analyzed all of our cloud options at the time – from Amazon EC2, to Force.com, to Google App Engine, to Rackspace. We realized we wanted to invest in a PaaS (Platform as a Service), and not IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service, such as Rackspace). Azure emerged as the best choice for us given that we are a Microsoft shop, and we really believed in their SDK in providing a platform as a service. We took the difficult decision of re-writing parts of our platform to take advantage of the Azure APIs, and we’ve never looked back since.” Prior to migrating to Windows Azure, Ayuda hosted and administered the Ayuda Platform on servers in a high-availability datacenter using an application service provider (ASP) model. “Prior to Azure we managed our own virtualization extensively and when our SaaS clients used to demand more performance from our platform, we would have to physically visit our datacenter to increase resources such as installing more RAM or disk space or change CPUs. With Azure, we simply have to login to the Azure console and request more resources per instance by literally clicking “up” or “down” for more or less power. Our Ayuda Platform then elastically scales across Microsoft’s thousands of virtual servers and delivers storage and compute power on demand,” explained Troel. The end result is that Ayuda’s clients experience a much more responsive product with incredibly high uptime and deep service level agreements. Troel concluded, “Azure is a win-win situation for us and our clients.”
